Hello!

Welcome to the Emily Renae Designs blog! I want to introduce myself since this is my first post. My name is Tierra and I am a wife and mother. I am also currently going to school at Ensign College and finishing up my Social Media Marketing Certificate. I transfer over to BYU-Idaho next year to finish up my degree. I will be working on my Graphic Design certificate next. I am self-taught in things like Adobe Photoshop, however, since I want to go into Surface Pattern Design I would really like to learn more about Illustrator. That has been a struggle and going to school will help. To be completely honest I am not very organized and consistent so holding myself more accountable will be advantageous.

I love to create. I am usually creating randomly though. I am the kind of person that sees something and I want to try it. I have my hat in a lot of different things. Whether that has to do with sewing, crocheting, paper art, jewelry, painting, digital designs, drawing, and more. I love trying to see if I can do it just as well as others. That can be a good or bad thing. It means that I am not focused on one type of creative. Something I am trying to be better at. That means that I am not a professional or expert in one type. I, however, do decent in all those things.

One thing I learned from a book that I read was "We are all terrified of being revealed as amateurs, but in fact, today is it is the amateur-the enthusiast who pursues her work in the spirit of love...." (Show Your Work by Austin Kleon). I'll admit, I am definitely an amateur working on becoming much more. I love so many things. Join me on my journey as I learn, create, and share what I love.

At this moment I am still trying to set up my website and blog. Super fun! That's the first thing you will see change. I have also just started a Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram page. Check those out! They are all under @emilyrenaedesigns. I hope to inspire but also get inspiration from you!
